Colonic Irrigation @ Beckenham Therapy Rooms

Beckenham Therapy Rooms has a specially designed treatment room within the clinic from which to offer Colonic Irrigation treatments.

Whether you are considering Colonic Irrigation as part of a general cleansing and detox programme or have specific digestive or elimination issues that you want to address, you will find that your practitioner is able to review your symptoms and provide objective and informed advice to resolve any problems you may be experiencing.

We offer a completely integrated approach to healthcare and having other complementary practitioners operating from the same premises allows us to refer clients to a wide range of experts who can provide additional advice on specific issues that may require further attention.

We have detailed below a brief overview of Colonic Irrigation to hopefully answer any questions you may have if this is the first time you are considering the treatment, but if you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to call the clinic and one of our therapists will be pleased to answer your enquiries. We look forward to welcoming you to the clinic in the near future.

What is Colonic Irrigation?

Colonic Irrigation is the gentle rinsing of the colon with warm water, to remove encrusted faecal matter, gas and mucus. This allows vital nutrients to be absorbed more easily and leaves you feeling rejuvenated and healthier. Colonic Irrigation can also help re-tone and reshape the colon.

How can it help?

The UK is the most constipated nation in the world, with 20,000 new cases of bowel cancer annually. The second largest selling pharmaceuticals worldwide are laxatives and thirdly antacids.

The benefits of colonics include increased energy, improved circulation, clearer skin and eyes, mental clarity, weight normalising, better digestion, relief from bloating and heaviness. By removing the waste material from the colon, the process of detoxification is given a boost and the harmful bacteria that is produced by encrusted faecal matter is removed from the body.

What causes the problem?

The colon (bowel/large intestine) is approximately 5-6 ft long and 1 inch wide. The bowel has a two-way wall - it completes the digestive process, absorbing nutrients and water from the digested foods and receiving dead cells, tissues and waste toxins from around the body.

The colon is the body's dump or sewage system. If the toxins present are not removed, the result is autointoxication - the waste materials intended for a healthy exit become reabsorbed into the blood stream and re-distributed around the body.

As the years pass and the person continues to eat poorly and to live under emotional stress, the body gradually becomes overwhelmed by toxicity. Inevitably, it is at this point that disease (allergies, arthritis, migraines, skin problems, heart disease, gout, metabolic/hormone imbalances, Crohn's disease, constipation, parasites and Candida) manifest themselves.

Our bodies are bombarded from every direction with substances we were not designed to process or eliminate; from air pollutants and chemicals found in everyday food, to industrial, beauty and household products. When added to the 'western lifestyle'- stress, alcohol, cigarettes, infrequent exercise and fast food, the body can simply not cope.

How many treatments do I need?

Every person is different and changes in our lives create different stresses, so there is no standard number of treatments that are recommended. Generally we suggest that a course of between 3-6 treatments is taken within an initial 3-4 week timeframe and then the situation can be reviewed with the therapist.

Is it safe?

Colonic Irrigation is completely safe - at Beckenham Therapy Rooms we comply strictly with current hospital sterilisation protocols outlined in the guidelines issued by the MDA (Medical Devices Agency). Our water is filtered and there is no danger of damage to internal organs.

Colonics have a "relieving" effect. There will be a feeling of lightness, of being clean and an increased clarity of mind following a colonic, although during the procedure you may feel a slight discomfort from time to time whenever toxic waste detaches from the intestinal walls and leaves the body.

We suggest that for 24 hours prior to your treatment you do not eat heavy meals or drink excess alcohol and fizzy drinks. The more you prepare for your treatment, the better the results. Once the colon has been thoroughly cleansed, then diet, exercise and other health programmes will become many times more effective.

General Tips for Continued Cleansing

We suggest that you eat within two hours of having a colonic treatment, ideally with a vegetable or fruit juice or vegetable soup. Generally be aware of your food combinations during meal times and in between. The more knowledge you have and awareness of what goes into your body, the easier it will be to naturally cleanse your body and maintain health.

Drink pure water and natural liquids (herbal tea, organic juices) regularly throughout the day. Try and cultivate a consistency in your approach to eating and take recommended supplements with regularity. The more you continue with a balanced approach, the more habitual it will become and the easier it will be to follow.

Plan your food intake wherever possible and if circumstances prevent you from eating what you need, try and get back to the programme as soon as possible.

Take the time to rest and relax. Your mind needs to recover as much as your body.

Bespoke Colonic Irrigation

At Beckenham Therapy Rooms, we believe that each treatment has to be tailor made to address a client's individual needs, which differ over time. Our therapists will add a herbal, coffee or natural probiotic implant into the water to address specific intestinal issues, ensuring the maximum benefit is obtained on each and every visit.
